Customer Success Internship

Role Description

Our customer success team is the bridge between our non-techie clients and our techie team. They handle new client implementation, account management, training, and everything in between. If it involves one of our users or buyers – they’re on the case! Now, they’re looking for an intern with a genuine interest in startup culture, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong desire to learn. Throughout the internship, this person will gain a good snapshot of the customer success function in a company plus experience the day to day life at a startup. Each day here presents its own challenges, so, we need a go-getter, willing to jump into any task.

About You

  • You’ll be supporting the customer success team. Some days that will mean diving into what feels like senseless data and presenting your findings back to the team. Other times it will be understanding new technologies. Whatever it is you’re excited for any opportunity to learn.
  • You should be able to handle ambiguity. Not all tasks will be straightforward. Sometimes we don’t know what we’re looking for, but with a little elbow grease and a lot of research, you’re able to work through it.
  • You possess superb verbal and written communication skills. Whether it’s writing user training, documenting product features, or speaking to a user – you’re able to adjust for audience.
  • You’ve held a position that required customer service skills. You’ll be in on customer calls and will often be the point of contact for follow-up. You’ll need to be warm and approachable.
  • You have a background in project or event planning. You know the importance of maniacal attention to detail and have the motivation to produce high-quality work.

Basics

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program
  • Microsoft Excel chops, preferably with a deep love of pivot tables
  • Presentation know how including use of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Must be in the Austin metro area
  • This is for Summer 2018, but we’re flexible on start date.

Employee Experience Internship

Role Description

We’re looking for an employee experience intern with a genuine interest in startup culture, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong desire to learn. Our intern will tackle general office management and IT projects + assist with all things employee experience, including the fun stuff like events and recruiting. At the end of the internship, you should have a good sense of life at a startup and understand the behind the scenes operations at a company. Each day here presents its own challenges, so, we need a go-getter, willing to jump into any task whether it’s keeping us caffeinated or planning our next event.

The Gig

  • Support the Operations team in areas of office management, IT, and employee experience
  • Review resumes and make recommendations for next steps
  • Order and stock office kitchen and supplies
  • Tackle IT tasks such as A/V set-up with Google Hangouts, communication, moving hardware, and inventory
  • Assist with meeting + event planning including monthly happy hours and team lunches
  • Research a relevant topic/issue, and present findings to the team at the end of the internship
  • Additional opportunities based on your interests

About You

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program
  • Interested in Entrepreneurship, Operations, HR, and/or IT
  • Strong respect for confidentiality

Marketing Internship

Role Description

Square Root is looking for a part-time marketing intern with a genuine interest in startup culture, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong desire to learn. Our intern will tackle all things marketing, including the fun stuff like external events and social media. At the end of the internship, this person should have a good snapshot of the sales and marketing functions plus have a sense of the day to day life at a startup. Each day here presents its own challenges, so, we need a go-getter, willing to jump into any task.

  • Manage digital marketing programs, including PPC, display, and retargeting advertising
  • Track and report monthly marketing activities across all programs
  • Assist in the coordination of tradeshows and events
  • Handle sales research and list development + CRM management and reporting
  • Produce, edit, publish, and measure content for the Square Root blog, ads, and social channels
  • Assist as needed with additional marketing programs and activities

About You

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate degree program
  • Interest in future career in sales, marketing, or advertising

The Gig

We’re looking for a stellar engineer to help us build our platform CoEFFICIENT. As an engineer at Square Root, you’ll be collaborating with people from different teams while thinking about how people will use what you’re building, so empathy, approachability, and listening are important parts of the job! Working in an agile environment means a willingness to learn and adapt are vital to success. You should be two steps ahead, planning for scaling, thinking about how your code would interact with other systems, and understanding how your work affects the product and our vision. About You

  • You love to code. You understand basic design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • You’ve graduated with a 4 year Computer Science degree
  • You have 3+ years work experience in software engineering, in both frontend and backend, and you’re willing to pitch in where help is needed.​​
  • ​​You know that tech is dynamic and you have a thirst for learning and understanding current development best practices, trends, and techniques.
  • We’re not married to a particular tech or set of tools. Right now we’re using AngularJS, Ruby, REST, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), so experience in any of those areas would benefit you!
  • You’re all about digging into complex problems and don’t hesitate to grab a colleague when the going gets tough.
  • You’re a team player. You ask questions, are clear with your expectations, and pitch in wherever you can.
  • You’ve got grit and the resilience to push forward, even when things don’t go as planned.
