Selected for their Learn Anything Program, Square Root is empowering their Radical team to seek out and direct their own growth and development.

Square Root is honored to be named on PEOPLE’s third annual list of “Companies That Care”. The list spotlights the 50 U.S. Companies that have succeeded in business, while also demonstrating respect, compassion, and concern for their communities, their employees, and the environment. To build the list, PEOPLE once again partnered with global workplace culture authority, Great Place to Work®, to identify the top U.S. companies that best fit the criteria.

This is Square Root’s first time on the list, selected for it’s Learn Anything program—a fan-favorite of the company’s Radicals (their moniker for employees). Courtney Branson, Square Root’s Director of People + Culture, says it was inspired by Square Root’s value Thrive, which, she adds, is an ode to the team itself. It was created as a means to nurture personal and professional growth, celebrate Radicals’ achievements and life milestones, and craft an atmosphere for everyone to flourish.

“Learn Anything builds more than knowledge, it nurtures creativity and confidence. It’s pushed us all out of our comfort zone.”

Chris Taylor, CEO + Founder

“It’s a dream to be recognized by PEOPLE Magazine for our Learn Anything benefit,” says Branson. “I’ve seen Radicals tackle fear after fear in the quest for growth. Learnings come back to Square Root along with a hunger to try more things in and outside of work. Learn Anything builds more than knowledge, it nurtures creativity and confidence. It’s pushed us all out of our comfort zone.”

The company of just under 50 people launched the program four years ago in an effort to empower their team to seek out and take charge of their own growth. The program’s spirit is embodied in the name itself. With it, Radicals are encouraged to use a budget of $3,000 for anything—and they mean anything! In the years since it’s launch, the program has been used for a myriad of growth opportunities, including improv, guitar, piano, banjo, and public speaking lessons; a scuba diving certification; Japanese courses and a trip to Japan to practice the newfound language skills; Pragmatic Marketing certifications; UX/UI design classes; and too many conferences and college courses to name.

Square Root is honored to be featured among 49 other companies who also made the list. They include organizations such as SalesForce, Orrick, Patagonia, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and more. You can see the full list here:

The full list will be featured in the August 5th, 2019 issue of PEOPLE, which hits newsstands nationwide on Friday, July 26th.
