At Square Root, our core values are at the heart of everything we do. Whether we are working through an engineering challenge or building a relationship with a new client, our values guide our work, our play, and our service. Our value of “thrive” aims to empower us to live our best lives and also helps us create an environment where each Radical feels fulfilled. This goal inspires us to make service a large part of our culture. Each holiday season, we give our teams a charity giving budget to donate to the causes they are most passionate about. Read on to learn more about the organizations our teams decided to give to this season.

Any Baby Can

Any Baby Can

Any Baby Can is a nonprofit based in Austin, Texas. The organization believes that every child should have the opportunity to live a happy and healthy life. They provide children and families with services such as in-home therapy, case management, and other support services. Foundation Communities

Foundation Communities provides individuals and families with access to affordable housing. They also provide services such as financial coaching, tax preparation, and health insurance enrollment. A few of our team members sponsored a family and bought bikes and helmets for the children.

Kiva is an international nonprofit based in San Francisco that connects lenders and borrowers around the world. Small loans are able to provide the capital needed to help individuals and families around the world start businesses, gain access to education, and improve their lives in many different ways. Each member of the engineering team chose a different individual or business to lend to on Kiva.

Code2College teaches coding and web development to high schoolers from underrepresented communities. They aim to educate students about the possibilities and opportunities of a STEM education and STEM careers. One of our data science team members is a volunteer instructor with Code2College, so he is able to specifically see the effects of the team’s donation to the organization.

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society funds lifesaving cancer research and provides support services and resources for individuals and families affected by cancer. Members of our team donated part of their herd giving budget to support this research and support services.

Center for Child Protection

The center serves as a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center. They work to end the cycle of child abuse through advocacy, community support, and education. Team members purchased items the center needs to support families such as baby formula and stuffed animals.
