“Square Root focuses on hiring the best person for the job and as a result we’ve built a team with a diverse group of interests, personalities, and work styles,” said Chris Taylor, Founder and CEO of Square Root. “My goal has always been to build an atmosphere that values individuality and everyone feels comfortable to do their best work. I’m really proud to receive this recognition and I think it’s reflective of the inclusive environment we have here.”
Square Root and the 99 other winning companies were selected based on evaluations by over 135,600 female employees on Great Place to Work’s Trust Index© employee survey. Women considered everything from the fairness of their company’s promotions, to who has access to information and leadership, the level of support for employees’ personal lives, and the degree of inclusiveness and connection they feel with colleagues. Scores also take into account how well-represented women are within the workforce, management and executive positions; how positively women experience their workplace’s fairness; and how favorable women’s experiences are compared to the 138,000 men also surveyed.
This year, Square Root has been recognized locally and nationally for the company’s workplace and culture. Square Root was named the fourth Best Small Company to Work for in Central Texas by the Austin Business Journal, the fifth Best Small Company to Work for in the state of Texas by Texas Monthly, and was named to the 34th annual Inc. 500/5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America for 2015.
